TOURNAMENTS
USA 18s TAKE GOLD
The 18u USA squad had no problems winning the gold medal at the FIBA tournament at Colorado Springs. The Tournament opened with a thrashing of Paraguay 121-56, followed by another pool win against Brazil 75-48. In the Semifinals Argentina fell to the Americans 81-47, and in the championship game the hosts beat their neighbors to the north Canada 87-52. AAU12 NATIONALS
Both MN teams have advanced to the championship bracket in the 12u division at Kingston, TN.
Erica Haugen's Lady Suns were 2-1 in pool play with a loss to New Jersey Sting 40-35 and two wins: vs. Mississippi Lady Roadrunners 63-35, and a win against Virginia Roanoke Stars 55-21.
The Minneapolis Lady Cats also were 2-1. They lost to Virginia Lady Neptunes 53-51, and beat SE TN Lady Shox 48-43, and OZ St. Louis Sparks 68-53 (the OZ is not the land of Oz, but Ozark region in AAU land).
Both teams play today with Mpls Lady Cats playing at noon against PV Lady Majic (Potomac Valley) and the Lady Suns playing at 3:30 vs the Virginia Lady Neptunes.
To find out how any team is faring look at the AAU 12u tournament site. It won't be as indepth as the USA Basketball site, or the Dakota Showcase, but it has information you can use.

AAU 11 NATIONALS
The MN representative in the nationals North Tartan finished 1-2 in pool play with losses to SE TN Lady Eagles 49-45, and Michigan Elite 43-41. Their win came against Indiana Outlaws 31-29. Then the went to the Classic Division (where teams go if they are not in the championship bracket). There they lost twice to Indiana Thunder 48-43, and then to Carolina Comets 44-42.
