SCOUTS, TOUGHNESS, AND JAGS
I came across a blog called True Hoop. It is primarily about the NBA, but the article can apply anywhere. In it they talk about what an NBA scout looks for in players. The full articles can be found at ProBasketballNews.com. In this article David Friedman, the author, watches a college game with Kevin Mackey, a talent evaluator for the Indiana Pacers. In the second part they watch a game on tape. I think this should be required reading for all players thinking about taking the step to the next level.
What does JAG stand for? In Scout speak it is "Just Another Guy." for our purposes here we can say it is "just another girl."
Another topic from True Hoop has NBA teams raving about their picks and the common ingredient---Most Athletic Player. It basically is a meaningless phrase according to True Hoop blogger Henry Abbott.
I think players win games. Big time players make big time plays. They are tough. They don't make excuses. They know what it takes to win, because they have have a championship resume. They are bright, resourceful, have a 6th sense and court awareness. Only a handful of players really measure up to these standards.

MINNESOTANS TO COLLEGE
Girls Basketball has 23 players from the 2006 class on their way to D1. The only sport that has more D1 signees is Girls Hockey with 26. But if we eliminate the D2 schools that play D1 hockey we only have 13 left. The best Boys sport is Hockey to little surprise with 13. Here is a listing of all athletes headed off to D1 land from the StarTribune.
