Your Daily Dose of Girls Basketball News & Information

This game took place Friday, June 30
Dakota Showcase, Pool play
IBCA Iowa Select 67, North Tartan 45

This was over rather quickly as ISI thouroughly dominated early. After 24 possessions they were up 39-10 that gives them a 162.5 pp100, and a floor % .792. This was the best offensive execution I have seen in HS/AAU/College/Pro for this streth of time. They dominated in inside, they dominated in transition. They missed five shots, two of which were 3s in the possessions they didn't score, no turnovers. NT, on the other hand, did not score on their first seven possessions, four of which ended as turnovers. After a basket by Jazmin Townsend they proceeded to string another 8 possession drought. So to start the game they were 1/16. ISI was 13/16 and the score was an insurmountable 26-2. ISI didn't keep the fires burning the whole half as they cooled off with a five possession drought prior to half time, but ISI led 42-17 despite that string.

ISI continued with a 3 possession drought to make it 8 straight. The only strings in the second half were droughts. NT had a five string mid half, followed by another five. The top scorer in the second half was Heather Cook with 3 3s for NT.

The ISI steamroller left no doubt who was in control. The physical presence of ISI reminds us of a collegiate team. The average height is 5-11.4, but if we discount the two point guards, the height is an even more imposing 6-0.6. They have height and they have the weight at 153.1. Again not counting the two points the weight is 158.2. The thing is these kids can flat out run the floor. They have quickness, are physical and the used that with an exclamation point in this mismatch. NT height was at 5-9.4, they did not provide the weight information the other teams did. Another sign of dominance/aggressiveness was with the free throw parade with 14 made by ISI with only 2 made by NT. The one facet NT led was in 3s with a 5-1 advantage.

The physical bodies, aggressive attitude, and swagger combined into the perfect storm for ISI.
