A LOOK AT THE LYNX: Offense vs San Antonio

A strong comeback in the fourth quarter propelled the Lynx past San Antonio to close out the first half of the season. Now with the all star break the Lynx get a week off. In a way it is too bad, because they could use the momentum from this game.

The key quarter was the 4th, and the key sequence is when MN went on a 9 possession scoring spree with an 18-5 run. Amber Jacobs and Nicole Ohlde lifted their level of play, along with Vanessa Hayden off the bench. These three delivered solid efforts. Jacobs is averaging 94.4 pp100; Hayden 77, and Ohlde 103.2 for the year. So Jacobs and Hayden doubled their efforts.
MN did have a four possession drought at the end of the 2nd quarter, (it would stretch to 7 if you count the beginning of the 3rd) and another in the 3rd quarter. If you combine the two streaks it would be 1/12. They weathered that dry spell to make their surge at the end. Jacobs started the streak with a 3, and Vanessa Hayden provided the next three points over the next two possessions.
Now the second half of the season awaits. If Jacobs, Hayden and Ohlde can maintain this level of play, the Lynx may have a chance to get into the playoffs. If they revert back, we are looking at another lottery pick.

Next up: later today with the MN Triple Threat vs Mpls Lady Lakers semifinals from the Great Lakes Shootout.
