BARNEY FIFE & MENOMONIE
Today at the Great Lakes shoot out my reliable source and I were evicted from the coaches section. The sign said no parents or players allowed. Since we were members of the media we thought we were all right. That is when Barney Fife stepped in shooing us out in rather unpleasant terms. His people skills were abysmal, and he had no regard for public relations. I have no idea why the media was not able to watch from that side of the gym. We had no horse in the race or dog in the fight.

This tournament pales in comparison with what went on at the Dakota Showcase. There they had good public relations, box scores, records for historical purposes, and treated the media very well. Barney Fife was no where to be found in Sioux Falls.

GREAT LAKES SHOOT OUT RESULTS
Triple Threat came out of Menomonie with out a blemish as they won the Great Lakes Shootout with a 39-32 win over WI Dykstra Engineering. They were aided by having their entire team present and healthy including Patrice Thomas who missed the entire Dakota Showcase tournament. Thomas made up for lost time with a pair of 3s to open the semifinals against Mpls Lady Lakers. She finished with 4 in that game, and had 16 points.

In the HS Division Prairie Shooters (Mandan, ND) beat Eau Claire North 43-42 on two free throws by Elizabeth Schleicher with 6.1 seconds to go. PS was playing with out Jessica Kielpinski who was injured earlier in the tournament.

OTHER TOURNAMENTS
MI
The USSSA National Invitational was held at Midland, MI. A list of which colleges attended and what the players and directors of the tournament hoped for are listed in the Midland Daily News.
MN
Here is a list of teams that played in the Walker tournament this past weekend.
Walker-Hackensack-Akely; Staples; WinEMac; Lake of the Woods; Pine River; Bigfork; Nevis; Pequot Lakes; Greenway; Duluth Denfeld; Verndale; Sebeka; Fosston; International Falls.

Walker and Staples were playing for the title. Bigfork beat Sebeka 44-40 in overtime for 3rd place. Staples beat Bigfork in the semifinals. Bigfork trailed by 11 to Sebeka, but pulled a play out of their bag of tricks, scored the basket, got fouled and made the free throw to send the game into overtime.
