This game took place Sunday, July 9
Great Lakes Shootout 16-19u Semifinals
Triple Threat 50, Mpls Lady Lakers 17
TT did not show much mercy on the MLL in a 50-17 drubbing. TT came out with guns blazing as they scored on their first 7 possessions as they built a 18-4 lead. By then it was over as MLL never got past 17 for the game. Patrice Thomas nailed her first two shots, and the teams first two shots, with two 3 pointers. On the 7th possession she added her 3rd 3 of the game. TTs Kiara Buford also had a 3 in the onslaught to start the game. The 7 streak was the best offensive performance of the first half. As far as the droughts go, both teams had some, TT had a 4 possession streak right after their opening, they had a five spot in the middle of the half, and another four streak to end the half. MLL had a four dry patch during the start of the game when TT was rolling. But it was the 12 possession drought that did not help matters. It was evenly divided with six apiece between missed shots and turnovers. TT led at half 32-13. Thomas had 12 (all on 3s) to lead TT; Barlow had 9 for MLL.
MLL had a hard time getting any offense generated in the second half. They had dry spells of 7, 4, and 10 in the very dry second half. TT did score 18 in the running time second half, but they never had an outburst like they did to start the game.
In the other semifinals WI Dykstra Engineering beat Team WI 17 38-20.

BY THE NUMBERS
Triple Threat 50, 53, 94.3, .434
Mpls Lady Lakers 17, 52, 32.7, .154
The MLL had a miserable day shooting. In fact they had the lowest floor % in the 52 games I have seen this summer. TT had their highest total for pp100 in the six games I have charted this summer. But it was only their 4th best as far as floor % was concerned. The reason for the discrepancy was the 3 point gunning. TT had six 3 pointers in the first half. They also controlled the line making four compared to MLL's zero.
There were some interesting subplots going on in this game as future teammates were facing each other from Mpls Roosevelt, and Bloomington Kennedy.
Next up: tomorrow morning with the general news of the day followed by an O&A with Southern Minne Magic, vs Southern MN Elite.
