In the play offs the last two standing were Kingsland and New Ulm Cathedral. This could be considered the "A" championship.

Kingsland 38, New Ulm Cathedral 21

In an extremely hot Williams Arena, Kingsland outlasted NUC 38-21. Kala Jensen started the scoring first for Kingsland with four points in possessions 2 & 3. NU Cathedral answered with Kirsten Prunty's basket on their second possession. It was a competitive game early on. The game was tied at 7. NUC held a 9-7 lead after Prunty's drive right down the middle of the lane. Kingsland tied it right up on the next possession with Jessie Oeltjen's free throws. NUC was not to score for the rest of the half--11 straight possessions. Kingsland wasn't ripping it up either as they scored only twice, but both were 3 point shots and they led 15-9 at half. Jensen had 7 at halftime.

As both teams played zone it was going to come down to who could move the ball and find the open shots better than the other. Kingsland was the answer to both questions. They connected for four 3s in the second half, and seven for the game. They definitely had more pop and zip on the ball. NUC had one 3 for the half and entire game. The drought outside again affected play inside as NUC had a 9 possession drought. Kingsland had an 11-0 run during the dry spell. The one bright spot for NUC was the play of Kirsten Prunty who had 8 of the 12 points in the second half.

Kingsland zipped the ball around on offense. On defense they initiated press & traps. They were the ones that set tempo and pressure and therefore came out on top. They limited NUC to only one shot, if that, on each possession. The heat probably had effect on shots, shots taken, and other decisions. Things seemed to move a tad slower.
