This game took place Saturday, July 1
Dakota Showcase Quarterfinals

IBCA Iowa Select I 60, MN Triple Threat 36

After playing the last game of the night, finishing about 11 pm, ISI had to turnaround and play at 9 am on Saturday morning. The shortened rest time didn't seem to bother them as they beat TT by a comfortable 24 point margin.

TT did lead early at 4-2 but that was their final advantage. ISI went on a 5/6 scoring possession to grab the lead at 10-6. TT's offense shut down for six possessions and ISI added six more points during their offensive siesta. TT had another dry patch at the end of the half with a five possession drought. Turnovers were a problem during these non scoring runs. Rachel Madrigal had a strong half for ISI with 9 points.

TT did make a spirited comeback early in the second half. After ISI scored the first four points of the half to make it 38-14. TT rattled off a seven possession scoring string for a 15-2 run and cut the lead to 40-29. That would be the closest TT would get. They then fell into the offensive drought mode with a 1/10 offensive output. When they stapped out of it, they were down 49-30. ISI closed out the game with 7/9 offensive efficiency thanks in part to 3 transition lay ups, and 3 possessions that ended up at the line.

TRENCH PLAYER
Second day in a row Rachel Madrigal, There are others worthy from ISI, but you can't go against a 200 pp100 player

BY THE NUMBERS
Iowa Select I 60, 58, 103.4, .534
Triple Threat 36, 57, 63.2, .316

As you can see above only four TT players were able to find the bottom of the basket, only 3 were able to turn the trick in the second half. ISI had everybody score so balance goes to ISI. They also won the height/weight battle. They look like a college team with their frames. ISI had 15 made free throws to 7 for TT. Neither team ripped it long with only one from behind the arc for each team.

I have seen four teams this summer that are impressive Iowa Select I, SD Elite, MN North Tartan, and Nebraska Daubert Pinnacle. The ISI team has been over 100 pp100 in 3 of the four games I have seen. They have great understanding of the game, and have the physical presence to do it. TT had problems with NT, and their floor% was lower today against ISI.
TT offensive range this year is 62.69 to 91.67; with a floor % of .316 to .467
ISI ranges are 88.89 to 108.1; and floor % .429 to .548

Pictures from a reliable source are in the mail. They will be up when they arrive.
