your daily dose of girls basketball news & information

This game took place Saturday, July 1
Dakota Showcase Quarterfinals
Daubert Pinnacle Nebraska 87, SD Riders 51

DPN controlled all aspects of the game as the rode the SD Riders into the ground. DPN led the entire game except when SDR tied it at 2. DPN dominated the boards getting at one point four shots at the basket. Even with their domination, DPN did have a rough go with a four possession dry spell early. It didn't damage them as SDR also was in their own 4 drought. The game was 8-7 when Kelsey Woodward dialed long distance for 3. That ignited a 13-2 outburst and that left SDR in the dust. A five possession drought didn't help matters any. Jamey Hofer helped keep SDR close with seven points late in the half. DPN led 40-22 at half.

The game established in the first half continued with no real problems for DPN. They had a five possession string. They never had any great streak, but avoided severe droughts with only a 2 possession miss in the second half. SDR had one bad patch with a five possession drought later in the half.

BY THE NUMBERS
Daubert Pinnacle NEB 87, 65, 133.8, .600
SD Riders 51, 65, 78.5, .385

At this point DPN has the AAU record for pp100 with 133.8, they are second in floor %. Not only are they are the tops with AAU, but also with the HS marks from the 05-06 season beating Adrian, MN 129.7 mark. The Lynx have the top record with 146.2 vs the LA Sparks on May 31.

With DPN's height advantage and aggressiveness they controlled the offensive boards with 18 offensive rebounds for the game. DPN won the FT line war with 11 made to 7, and they also won the 3 line war with 10 compared to 3.

Look at the pp100 for DPN. It is the first time a team's lowest total in pp100 was the gold standard 100. But when a team hits 133.8 that should be expected. Four players topped 150. When you shoot good, you look good. But beyond that DPN does not try to do to much. They are well coached, and the players physically look like collegiate players. They are in the gang of four of teams that have executed well over the course of the year: IA Select I; MN North Tartan, and SD Elite are the others.
