EASTVIEW WINS LN SL CHAMPIONSHIP
The one-two first half punch of DaNae Moore and Brittnye McSparron put Eastview in the driver's seat with a 33-8 half time lead over host school Lakeville North. The pair had 24 points in the first half. Eastview won the championship 42-32. Eastview reached the finals with a win over Lakeville South in the semifinals. Lakeville North beat Burnsville 42-23 in the other semis.

Hopkins won the consolation division as Eagan forfeited due to lack of players. They only had four when the game started, and they walked after half time.

I will get both games in here with the semifinals with Lakeville North and Burnsville followed by the finals with LN and Eastview.

Semifinals
LAKEVILLE NORTH 42, BURNSVILLE 23
Trying to get to Lakeville North from Brooklyn Park during rush hour takes longer than an hour I discovered today. South of 394, 100, 494 and 35W all become parking lots. There were two cars off to the side on 35W stopped by troopers. That is why I was late for the first half of the semis. There was about 9 minutes left when I showed up.

When I arrived LN held a 9-4 lead and they soon added to that margin. They had a 8/9 possession ratio with 7 straight. LN had a 15-3 run with #24 putting up 9 of the points. The only field goal I saw for Burnsville was Danielle Dove's 3, all other scoring was free throws. LN led 26-12 at the half.

The scoring rate slowed down in the second half. LN had a five possession drought early in the half, but Burnsville was only able to slice three points off the deficit. No great offensive streaks ensued in the second half, but both teams had drought issues. Burnsville had a 1/8 stretch early in the half. LN won 42-23

FINALS
EASTVIEW 42, LAKEVILLE NORTH 32

Eastview raced out early with a 33-8 lead at half. DaNae Moore and Brittnye McSperron provided 24 of those points. Eastview opened 5/6 on their first six possessions and had a 12-2 lead. Later in the half they expanded that lead with a 4/5 string. In fact Eastview's pp100 for the half was 126.9 and their floor % was .654. LN had a six possession drought followed by 12 possession Sahara drought to close out the half. They had six turnovers and six missed shots, including free throw opportunities.

LN got the cobwebs off their shots to open the second half with five straight scoring possessions on a 10-5 run. Kaiya Sygulla had six of those 10. But it was hot & cold for LN as they had a four drought right after that offensive flury. Eastview definitely cooled off in the second half. They had one stretch where they were 1/13. The closest LN got to Eastview was right at the end of the game at 42-32.
