This game took place on June 30
Dakota Showcase Pool Play
Iowa Select II 64, SD Riders 54
This was considered an upset since SD Riders moved on to the championship round on Saturday. SD Riders are similar to the Prairie Shooters in that the vast majority of the team is from one school--in this case it is Sioux Falls Roosevelt (the Rough Riders).
ISII scored on five of their first six possessions and led 12-8. The game was back and forth early on, but SD Riders had a 1/12 dry spell including 7 straight in the middle of the half. ISII had their own 5 possession drought and didn't gain much ground. After the march through the desert ISII led 21-14. The first half saw SD Riders connect on 5 3s, they only scored on two field goals in front of the arc. ISII led 31-21 at half. Tessa Wilka led SDR with 10, but the rest of her team was not as efficient.
The only main drought took place at the end of the game as both teams did not execute very well with the game still in doubt. SDR and ISII were both 2/10. ISII before that had four straight scoring possessions. The game was never really in doubt in the second half.

BY THE NUMBERS
Iowa Select II 64, 63, 101.6, .476
SD Riders 54, 62, 87.1, .371
Select II had less drought time that SDR which may be odd considering SDR should be used to each other and the system. But it was an O'Gorman player that led them in scoring with West Central kid the second top scorer. ISII won the battle of the free throw line with 16 made free throws to 8. Again I believe teams that go to the line are more aggressive offensively, and challenge the defense.
