AAU NEWS
MISS BASKETBALL DAKOTA SHOWCASE 32-TEAM FIELD SET
The 7th Annual Miss Basketball Dakota Showcase is slated for June 28-30 at Augustana College in Sioux Falls. The event was the Girls Basketball Recruit’s “top event of the summer” last year. The event will double in size from 16 to 32 teams with the addition of a new practice facility at Augustana. Game schedules will be available at the end of April on http://www.missbasketball.com/. Each year 50-60 NCAA Division II, III, NAIA and juco coaches scout the very talented field. The participating girls’ teams by state include:

Minnesota: MN Metro Stars Black, White & 15’s, ECI Minnesota Gold, MN North Tartan, MN Lady Suns, Southern Minne Magic, Minnesota Swish
Iowa: IBCA Iowa Select I & II, All Iowa Attack I & II, Iowa Elite I & II, Iowa Lightning I & II
South Dakota: Dakota Hardwood Threat, Black Hills Roundup, Northern Lites, South Dakota Riders

WNIT
South Dakota State will play at Wyoming on Sunday. The Aberdeen American News says D1 schools can't catch the Jackrabbits.

Wisconsin is still in the hunt for the WNIT title. They have done it by "staying the course" as the Wisconsin State Journal describes it. The Capital Times says UW is looking at the WNIT as a springboard for future NCAA success.

COACHING NEWS
Iowa State coach Bill Fennelly has singned a contract that extends to 2019. From the Des Moines Register.

UWGB's Coach Kevin Borseth is popular. Now Cincinnati wants permission to talk to Borseth. Michigan has asked permission as well. From the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Iowa State is already looking for a point guard for next season. From the Des Moines Register.

Michigan has permission to talk to UWGB coach Kevin Borseth. From the Green Bay Press Gazette. Future recruits are urged to stay Wolverines by outgoing coach Burnett. From the Michigan Daily.

The State News looks back on the Michigan State season and speculates on Coach McCallie's future. Gretchen Flemming of the Grand Rapids Press thinks MSU should pay McCallie more to keep her.

WNIT
South Dakota State kept winning with a scrappy 60-53 win over Indiana. Also from the SDSU Collegian. Now SDSU will play at Wyoming on Sunday. The MidContinent commisioner was in the house and impressed with the turnout. So were over 6000 fans with WNIT fever. From the Sioux Falls Argus Leader. St. Peter's Megan Vogel led SDSU with 14.

Wisconsin also moved on with a 67-61 win over Kentucky. The Badgers trailed by one with 3 minutes to go. From the Wisconsin State Journal. Rebounding was the key according to the Capital Times. South Shore's Jolene Anderson had 22 for Wisconsin.

Kansas State upended Illinois 66-51. Bloomington Kennedy's Jenna Smith had 14 for Illinois.

Florida Gulf Coast took a step to a championship with a 61-57 win over Clayton State.

Concordia St. Paul's Amanda Behnke has been named All-America honorable mention.

Penn State coach Rene Portland has resigned. She had been at the helm for 27 years at Penn State. Her record at PSU was 606-236 and 693-295 in 31 years overall. AD Tim Curly's statement and questions and answers are also part of the story.

NCAA TOURNAMENT

JUCO
After a one year lay off Anoka-Ramsey stormed back to take the NJCAA D3 title last weekend in Utica NY. AR beat Caldwell, NC 63-47 in the quarterfinals, Monroe NY in the semisfinals 81-78, and Mohawk Valley, NY 52-44 in the championship.
Sonja Ellingson was named MVP and Coach Dave DeWitt took home the coaching honors.
