THREE OHIO VERBALS
Ashley Andrews of Marion Pleasant and Kayla Brown of Riverdale have verballed Findlay a D2 program.
Mikeala Ruef of Beavercreek has verballed Stanford.

This pushes the Ohio verbals from the 2009 class to 44 overall.
Ruef is the 33rd player to verbal a D1 program.
Andrews & Brown are the 9th & 10th to verbal a D2 program.

MSU BILLINGS SIGNINGS
Laura Jo Kipp of Browning, Montana and Melissa Porter of North Sevier, Utah have signed with MSU Billings.
Kipp is a 6-0 center who averaged 17 ppg last season.
Porter is a 6-3 center who is also on the volleyball team at MSU Billings.

MEET THE NEWCOMERS
Michigan has a feature on their site meeting newcomers. Today it is Lauren Young from Edina by way of Colorado State.

FALL LEAGUE
The 43 Hoops team, who was shellacked by Hopkins on Saturday at the Roosevelt Fall League semifinals, turned around and beat the very same Hopkins team 38-35 Sunday in Minnetonka in the MYAS Fall League.
Teams that are undefeated after two weeks:
Armstrong Black: Centennial, Armstrong, Champlin Park
Minnetonka: None. Four teams are 3-1--Hopkins Black, Bloomington Kennedy, 43 Hoops Zuck, and NT Gals.
Blaine: Blaine
Concordia St. Paul: Barnum (When they lost to Western WI two weeks ago it was an exhibition contest).
Eagan/Eastview: Lady Lightning, Cannon Falls
Armstrong White: Elks, Gatos, Armstrong White.

PRESEASON POLLS

LAWSUIT
Former Texas Southern women's basketball coach Surina Dixon has sued the school alleging gender discrimination and retaliation in her firing in June. From the International Herald Tribune.

POLICE BLOTTER
Former Lexington, Nebraska assistant girls basketball coach Kelsey Peterson was sentenced to six years in prison. She pled guilty to crossing state lines to have sex with someone younger than 18. From the Omaha World Herald.

Marquette and Cornerstone participated in the Race for the Cure this past weekend.

THOMAS VERBALS
Jasmine Thomas of Flint Hamady has verballed Michigan State. Thomas averaged 9.7 ppg for the regional runner up. From the Flint Journal.

Thomas is the 20th player from the Michigan 2009 class to verbal and the 15th headed to a D1 program.

PATTERSON VERBALS
Megan Patterson of Columbus, Montana has verballed Weber State. The 5-11 guard averaged 16 ppg last season. From KXMC.

Patterson is the 1st player from the 2009 Montana class to verbal.

LAWSUIT
The drama at Southern Methodist increases with Jennifer Colli lawsuit vs coach Rhonda Rampola with new allegations. From TXCN.

COACHING
Marcus Heidorf has been named the new women's basketball coach at Lawrence. Heidorf was an assistant at Alverno. From the Appleton Post Crescent.

Concordia St. Paul coach Paul Fessler is #9 on the active winning % list for D2 coaches.

INJURIES
Tennessee women's basketball coach Pat Summitt has had offseason shoulder surgery. Summit injured her shoulder in a confrontation with a raccoon. From the Detroit News.

Whitney Houston of Colorado is out for the year due to an ACL injury.

NICKNAMES
USA Today looks at "unique" high school nicknames. Blooming Prairie makes the list. Of course they don't include the Devils Lake Satans in the inappropriate column because they are now Firebirds.

RECRUITING
Kentucky defeated a proposal aimed at curbing recruiting of middle school athletes. Coaches can still coach club (AAU teams)

SCRIMMAGES
The Bloomington Jefferson Varsity Jamboree field has been set. Scrimmages will take place November 22 on the varsity floor as well as the activity center which includes five full size wood floor courts. Teams involved include Bloomington Jefferson, Providence Academy, Burnsville, Rochester Lourdes, New London Spicer, Owatonna, New Life Academy, and Holy Angels.

FINALS

VERBAL
Briana Jones of Toledo Central Catholic has verballed Illinois. Jones is a 6-2 forward. From ESPN.

TRANSFERS
Desiree Waller has transferred from Angelina JC to Texas A&M Commerce. The point guard from Thibodeaux, Louisiana averaged 16.7 ppg at AJC last year. From the North Texas E-News.

Wichita State has added two Junior College transfers to their roster.
Marisah Henderson, transferred from Arkansas Fort Smith. Henderson is a 5-2 point guard from Kansas City Sumner. AFS was 34-2 last year
Ashley Gladden, transferred from Independence CC. Gladden is a 5-10 junior forward from Catonsville, Md.

LAWSUITS
Former Southern Methodist player Jennifer Colli is seeking $2 million in a lawsuit against the school and coach Rhonda Rompola. Colli's scholarship was pulled in 2006 due to "serious misconduct." Dreams were shattered. Relationships questioned. From CBS 11 in Dallas.

SUN 2-0 vs LYNX
Former Gopher Lindsey Whalen and the Connecticut Sun took the second game 75-66 against the Lynx yesterday. The Lynx had shooting problems yesterday. From the St. Paul Pioneer Press and the StarTribune.

AGE DISCRIMINATION
In Wyoming City, Ohio former girls basketball coach Deb Gentile has been awarded $398,831.04 (and four cents). $265,000 will go to the lawyers. Gentile was let go in January 2006 despite a 479-143 career record. A parent dispute was behind the firing. From the Cincinnati Enquirer.
