6AAAA SEMIFINALS
EASTVIEW lightning 61, APPLE VALLEY eagles 55

A case of Dr. Jeckyll and Mr. Hyde. On defense Apple Valley had a defense designed to slow down and stymie Brittnye McSparron. AV led at half time 26-25 and led 28-25 right off the bat in the second half. McSparron only had 5 points at half. But it was on offense that AV was the Mr. Hyde character. AV had 12 turnovers in each half, not to mention the countless rushed shots with no weak side rebounders wearing white. Eastview took the lead with about 15 minutes to go at 30-28, and never trailed after that. The Lightning's biggest lead came at 47-39 with a little over 8 minutes to go. AV started to rally and cut the margin to as close as 52-49 with 2:15 to go after a Bentley Mancini 3. After that Eastview went to the line on five of their last six possession. In fact Eastview scored on their last nine possessions to pull out a 61-55 white knuckle win over district rival AV.

In a back and forth contest Edina beat the hosts 57-53. The Hornets finished with a 12/14 sequence. In the second half the game was tied 7 times, the last time at 47. The lead changed hands 10 times. The last lead change came with a three by Natalie Pastor with about 2 minutes left.

This concludes the second day of the four game tournaments. Normally you would see a lot more story/analysis. Right now I am trying to keep my nostrils above water. It is like trying to digest four Thanksgiving meals in one day. Coach Teas has been taking photos. I will get them up later. I have my detailed notes. I might revist these stories for quick liners. But now I need my sleep. It is 12:35 am on Saturday and there is another four game event tomorrow.

APPLE VALLEY FALL LEAGUE
EAGAN wildcats 42, APPLE VALLEY eagles 35

In a battle of Lake conference rivals it was Eagan beating the hosts 42-35.

Apple Valley got off to a slow start with a 1/7 offensive sequence. Eagan took advantage of their down time to build a 6-2 lead. Brittany Dyshaw had four of the first six points. Eagan stopped AV six times in the middle of the half, three on turnovers to maintain their lead. Eagan also had their dry spell, with a five possession stretch. AV was able to cut the margin from 14-6 to 14-12 during the Eagan offensive slumber. Erica Gress had four of those points for AV. Eagan rattled off three straight scores to go up 20-12, but then fell back with four straight empty possessions to close the half. Valley's Cassie Hubler score the last five points of the half, one on a 3. Eagan led at half 20-17.

Eagan's offensive woes continued at the early portion of the second half with five more dry possessions. Overall that made a drought of nine and AV pounced on that with their own 9-0 run and took the lead for one brief moment 21-20 on a Bentley Mancini basket. Eagan went on an 8-2 run to reclaim the lead. Dyshaw scored the basket to give the lead back. The Wildcats led 35-29 when AV shut down for six straight chances. Eagan padded their totals with seven more points to go up 42-29. AV closed the gap late, but time was ticking away on a 42-35 neighborly rival game.
