#4 posting 3.1.2006
North Branch 48, Fridley 26
North Branch scored first and never trailed after that. Marlayna Graff scored the first 7 points for NB. The Vikings opened an early 15-4 lead. Fridley had a 10-3 run to end the half with NB in the lead 18-14.
Fridley narrowed the lead to 21-18 early in the second half, but NB broke the game open with a 19-4 run. Gabrielle Olson had 9 points during the run. Fridley had droughts of 7, another 7, and 8 in the second half with many turnovers resulting in transition baskets or free throws for NB.
NB passed well, crisp, zippy, but their defense was the story as well. They create offense with their D and held Fridley to new observed lows (see the By the numbers section).
Height Matters: North Branch 5-9.2; Fridley 5-9.2
Department of defense: Fridley used 2/3, 3/2, 1/3/1; man. NB used 2/3 primarily with pressing 3/4 court 1/2/2
