7A North Turned to Ashes

There was no advantage of being the top seeds in 7A North in an Ash Wednesday Massacre. #1 Chisholm; #2 Littlefork-Big Falls; #3 Mt Iron-Buhl; #4 Bigfork all saw their seasons end.

Casey Mann, Rogers reached the 1000 point mark exactly with 23 points in a 73-22 win over Columbia Heights in the 6AAA Quarterfinals. She is the first
Brittany Gustafson, Red Lake County Central reached the 1000 with a 22 point performance against EGF Sacred Heart. She is the 6th RLCC player to reach 1000.

2: #4 Minnetonka was upset by Eden Prairie 55-43. Hopkins will now face Eden Prairie Saturday afternoon while Edina and Chaska face each other in the other semifinals at Armstrong HS
4: There was a dangerous #7 after all as White Bear Lake beat North St. Paul 51-43. One more higher seeded team was sent packing as Stillwater bumped off #4 Forest Lake 44-40. Top Seed Roseville will take on Stillwater and White Bear Lake will face St. Paul Johnson Saturday afternoon at Tartan HS.
6: In the only upset free AAAA section all went well for the top seeds. #1 Minneapolis South will Apple Valley and #2 Bloomington Kennedy will face Eastview for the third time this year. All this will take place at Prior Lake HS Saturday afternoon.

6: The only top seed to go down was Chisago Lakes as they lost to Totino-Grace 69-50. Rogers will take on Totino-Grace and North Branch will play Spring Lake Park Saturday evening at Osseo HS. Read more about the SLP and North Branch games published yesterday on the blog.

7: The North is turned to ashes on Ash Wednesday as upsets ruled. The South half had everyone doing their job. In the North #1 Chisholm was stunned by #8 Ely 57-54. #7 Orr turned the tables on #2 Littlefork-Big Falls 54-47. #3 Mt Iron-Buhl fell to Cook County 51-44; and #4 Bigfork lost to defending region champ Tower-Soudan by the narrow margin of 47-46. That means on Saturday at either UMD or Denfeld HS the match ups will be Wrenshall vs Cotton; Bigfork vs Ely; Cook County vs Tower-Soudan; and Barnum vs Carlton.
