This game took place on Sunday, July 8
Adidas Mid-American Tournament, Hopkins
16u championship
METRO STARS WHITE 48,
SOUTHERN MINNE MAGIC BLACK 25
I got to this game late, after the 15u championship game. It was 8-3 Metro Stars White when I sat down with under 10 minutes left in the first half. MSW remained in control the rest of the way as they played brick wall defense against Southern Minne Magic Black. Last weekend in Sioux Falls MSW finished with three straight wins to take 17th place in the 32 team tournament. They continued that hot streak with six wins in this tournament. And they did it with defense. The most the gave up in any game in this tournament was 38 points.
When I watched the last portion of the first half, MSW had a 14-12 advantage, leading 22-15 at half.
In the second half there really was no movement, rallies or comebacks for SMMB as MSW controlled the action. The longest dry spell for SMMB lasted 8 possessions late in the second half. By the time that dry spell started it was 40-23, After the broke the drought it was 46-23. Not much drama in this championship.
