North Tartan 15s Win AAU National Opener

15U AAU NATIONALS
The North Tartan 15's are playing in the 15U AAU National Championships in Nashville from July 21-27. They played their first game in pool play on Saturday and beat the South Carolina 76er's 48-44. North Tartan was down 24-21 at halftime. The scoring went:

Bree Holleman, Hancock, 1
Kelsey Evans, Willmar, 9
Danielle Bennett-Curry, Benilde, 7
Mimi Reif, Irondale, 8
Holly Riesselman, Park-Cottage Grove, 4
Suriya McGuire, Mpls Roosevelt, 6

Today they play Tennessee Select at 8:30 and Georgia Elite at 1:45. There are the final two pool play games on Monday and then bracket play starts Tuesday.
North Tartan is the only Minnesota representative in the tournament. Tennessee has the most with 9.

All Iowa Attack won their first game 69-48 over KBB Elite; Then lost to the Arkansas Mavericks 88-70.
Team Wisconsin Select 15s beat Tennessee Pride Maroon 61-57; TWS15 then lost to the Arkanas Bombers 65-58.
Also from Wisconsin Dykstra Engineering beat Missouri Valley Power 69-65; and then lost to James River Blaze 80-58.

The 14u AAU Nationals start today. Minnesota teams involved include Metro Stars, North Tartan and two Suns teams Gold and White.

OTHER TOURNAMENTS
In Menomonie, WI the Great Lakes Shootout II is going on and here is the Platinum brackets. The Minneapolis Lady Lakers finished first in the C pool.

In Lincoln, Nebraska in the Adidas Battle of the Plains MN Stars Borowicz is 2-0 in pool play with wins over the hosts Nebraska Bison Cornhusker Shooting Stars 59-51; and a 63-51 win over the SD Lightning. All Iowa Attack, Indiana Elite, and Iowa Elite are also 2-0 in their pools.
In the Open division 43 Hoops is also 2-0 in pool play.

AUSTRALIA BOUND
The Albany girls basketball team is headed to Gold Coast Australia to play in the Down Under Classic. They will play 10 to 13 games there. This is the 11th year coach Jon Noreen has taken a squad south of the equator.
