CHAMPLIN PARK SUMMER LEAGUE
Championship
MAPLE GROVE 37, OSSEO 33

Maple Grove survived a scare and the heat to win the first Champlin Park Summer League. Osseo sent their JV since their varsity (that was undefeated in the CPSL) was at the Minnesota Gopher Team camp.

MG had the early advantage at 4-2. In the middle portion of the first half both teams rattled off seven straight scores. MG still led at the end of the outburst 14-8. Anna Gruhlke knocked down two 3s and Julie Kruse scored four points to account for MG's 10 in the run. Kyana Jones had all six of Osseo's points in the flurry. Osseo took their first lead at 17-16 on a three by Kaela Crouch. Osseo held a 19-16 lead at half. MG finished the half with a five possession dry patch.

The lead seesawed back and forth in the second half. There were three ties and neither team had a bigger lead than three points. Amanda Barfknecht drilled two consecutive threes in the give in take for Osseo. MG used their size advantage with Julie Kruse scoring a put back to tie the game at 29. MG had a five possession drought, but Osseo topped that with a nine possession drought. MG broke free from a 31 all tie. An 8-0 run put MG up 37-31. Alyssa Silva scored on a drive to put MG in the lead for good. MG finished the game with a six possession drought. Osseo didn't take advantage of the situation. Osseo finished the game with a 1/14 offensive sequence.
