LAKEVILLE NORTH SUMMER LEAGUE
Championship
HOPKINS royals 33, EASTVIEW lightning 31

Hopkins won the Lakeville North Girls Basketball summer league championship with a comeback win over Eastview 33-31. Earlier in the summer Eastview downed Hopkins 35-28. Hopkins trailed 27-21 with 6 minutes left before finishing up with a 12-4 run.

Just as in the semis for Hopkins a three opened the scoring. It wasn't on the first possession, but Hanna Muegge delivered. Brittnye McSparron answered right back with her own three. That was the first of three ties, the last coming at 11 all. Hopkins finished the half with the last four points, all by Stephanie Sension. Eastview closed the half with a six possession drought.

Eastview took the lead in the second half on DaNae Moore's three 19-18. Muegge returned the lead to Hopkins after a pass from Lillemoe as Muegge cut through the lane. After that Eastview went on an 8-1 run with Mcsparron providing six of those points, all on drives---including free throws--except the one and one she made after getting a defensive rebound. Sension and Muegge started the 12-4 Hopkins run. Most of the Hopkins points came in the last two minutes. Eastview still had a 28-27 advantage, but the Hopkins defense turned it up a notch. They held the Lightning to five straight non scoring possessions. Sension tied the game with a free throw. Lillemoe hit a jumper with 1:05 left to put Hopkins up 30-28. In this game Hopkins made wiser decisions as the clock wound down. Caitlin Rowland cashed in two free throws with Lillemoe adding another free throw after a McSparron three made it 32-31.
