CONCORDIA ST. PAUL SUMMER LEAGUE
Bloomington Kennedy won the Concordia St. Paul Summer League with a two games to one advantage over St. Paul Central in the finals. The CSPSL plays three 14 minute running time periods. After the first period the scoreboard is wiped clean. Also fouls translate into points. Fouled in the act of shooting is an automatic two. Non shooting fouls equal one point.

Kennedy beat Minnehaha Academy in the semifinals 2-1 (21-9, 10-13, 15-10) MA led 10-8 in game three with 1:47 left. Kearney hit a three to give JFK an 11-10 lead and that proved to be all they needed. MA never got a shot in their last three possessions. JFK had five cracks at a one and one (they shoot free throws under two minutes left) Brittany Zins came up with big rebounds each time and converted two free throws (after four misses by the Eagles) to make it 13-10. Later Shakila Boler added two more free throws for the final margin.

In the other semis St. Paul Central beat Henry Sibley 2-1. But two players went down with injuries---not major, but enough to keep them out of the finals---Kiara Buford, and Theairra Taylor.

Kennedy won the championship also 2-1 (20-15, 15-22, 20-14). After the first two periods were split Kennedy came out fast with 6/7 scoring possessions. With a 14-4 lead Kennedy was in cruise control and SPC had to play catch up.

I will have more on these games tomorrow.

Next up: tomorrow morning.
