Top 100 Expo Camp (yesterday)
Semifinals
LSU 62, PURDUE 59

First a word on the format here at the Top 100 Expo Camp in St. Cloud. There are four quarters of 10 minutes. Since this is a camp environment players are subbed in waves. Offenses at camps are fairly quick in that any patterns are simple and the first opening a player sees they take the shot.

There were three ties in the first quarter in this evenly matched contest. LSU broke a 17 all tie with a three by Kaitlyn Houser. it was 20-17 at the end of one quarter. There were droughts in the first quarter. LSU suffered through a six possession drought to close the quarter and Purdue was one behind at five, also at the end of the quarter.

LSU ramped it up in the second quarter. They had a 13-0 run early in the quarter. Jessie Warzecha had four for LSU during the run. Purdue had an eight possession drought which proved to be fatal, the last three were turnovers. At the half it was 43-24 LSU.

Both teams reversed roles in the third quarter. Purdue had a 16-0 run as LSU tailspinned with an epic 15 possession drought. Only three were via turnovers. Most came about on rushed, off balanced, shots. There was no shot clock in this event, but players felt they needed to shoot or they may never see the ball again. Sydney Epema had six of the Purdue points in their comeback. Even with that push Purdue trailed at the end of the third 51-46.

The fourth quarter was more intense. Both teams struggled early to find the net. LSU had a five possession drought, and Purdue was 1/5. LSU led at their largest margin in that quarter 56-49 after a Warzecha basket. Purdue then had a 10-2 run to take a 59-58 lead. Morgan Simonitch scored on a drive to put Purdue up. She had five points in the run. Both teams missed opportunities in their next crack at the basket. Jordyn Sears put LSU back up 60-59 with a shot on the right baseline. Epema missed for Purdue. With the ball back in LSU's hands AunDreah Aune was fouled. She made the first free throw, missed the second, but got the offensive rebound. She was promptly fouled again and delivered both for the final margin. Epema's desperation 3 was off the mark.
