Hopkins Tops in Lakeville North

HOPKINS WINS LAKEVILLE NORTH SUMMER LEAGUE
Hopkins won the Lakeville North Summer League with a 33-31 nailbiter with Eastview. Earlier in the SL season Eastview topped Hopkins. Hopkins finished off Eastview by scoring on four of their last five possessions in the last two minutes. Eastview had a 27-21 lead after trailing 15-11 at half. Hopkins had a 12-4 run to finish the contest. Jenna Lillemoe hit the go ahead basket breaking a 28 all tie with 1:05 left. Caitlyn Rowland hit what proved to be the winning points with two free throws with 14.8 seconds left. Those tosses gave Hopkins a 32-28 lead. Brittnye McSparron hit a three to pull Eastview within one with 6.7 seconds left. Lillemoe added a free throw to complete the scoring.

Earlier, in the semis, Hopkins downed Eagan 41-31. That game was tied at half at 17. An 10-2 run with the score still tied at 24 gave Hopkins the edge they needed. Julie Wiemer started that run with a three, and Lillemoe ended it with a three.
Eastview beat Lakeville North in the other semifinal by about 10.
LN won the third place game with a 10 point win over Eagan.

There will be more details tomorrow. I am bushed. I drove from Medora, ND back to the metro, and then to the games tonight.
