MINNESOTA ELITE CAMP
East Division
MYSTICS 55, FIRE 45

The Mystics had no one in double figures, but had six players with six or more points in a balanced 55-45 win over the Fire. The Fire's Shelly Stemper was blazing with 17 points (a 170 pp100 and .900 floor %), but the rest of the squad couldn't stir the embers.

There were six ties in the first half in this closely contested match up, the last coming at 23 all. The Mystics wrapped up the first half with an 8-2 run to lead at the break 31-25. Both teams spent a good chunk of the running time at the line in the first half with a combined 19 free throws made. Abbey Evavold and Stemper each made two appearances at the line in the first half.

A 10-2 run to start the second half by the Mystics doused any Fire hopes. Bridget Schuneman had a four point possession in which she made a put back and was fouled. She missed the chance for one more points, but the Mystics got the ball back and she scored again. The largest Mystic lead came at 51-35. The Fire started stirring late, but it never blazed. The Fire endured a seven possession drought in the middle of the half on top of the earlier seven drought early in the half. Stemper had 11 in the second half for the Fire. Only three others scored in the second half.
