Breakdown Tournament II
Rogers
Silver Championship
CENTENNIAL cougars 67, ALBANY huskies 61

This was a high flying game with offensive fireworks all around. Taylor Voss drained seven 3s on the way to 32 points, but that wasn't enough for Albany to get past big school Centennial's balance and depth. In fact Albany's top three scorers (Jennie Noreen and Sam Larsen) had a grand total of 57 points.

Centennial broke free from a 13 all tie (the fifth tie of the game) with a 10-0 run to go up 23-13. Albany suffered from a six possession drought at that time, but only one was turnover. Emily Becken had four points for Centennial during the run with a pair of pull up jumpers. If you look at the pp100s in the By the Numbers segment you will see two teams clicking at right around 100 (which makes for good viewing). However there was one prolonged sequence in the first half where both teams were 180 degrees away from that gold standard. Combined both teams were a paltry 1/14. Translated into pp100 a meager, and paltry 7.1 pp100. Voss had 13 points at half. As it was Centennial led at half 30-27.
Centennial pushed their lead out to 40-29 in the first part of the second half. Becken and Bridget Schuneman each had four points in the 10-2 run. Two Albany possessions later in was 40-35 as Noreen and Voss each had "&1s." Centennial upped it back to 48-37. That closed a 8/9 Centennial offensive sequence. The margin remained at the 10 level when Albany made their last push. A 12-5 run with Voss blazing away for 10 points, with two threes in the mix. In the next Centennial possession Allums made an &1 and the margin was back to six. Noreen delivered two free throws to cut the margin to 63-59. Centennial finished the last 1:30 with scores on their possession to close out a 67-61 win.

Here is why the pp100 is interesting. Voss had 32 points, and a 128 pp100 which is very good. However if you look at the Centennial numbers you see that Allums and Schuneman topped that.
The Centennial zone defense didn't prevent sniping from the outside and penetration by Noreen and Voss.
Albany will have to have one player step up to help relieve pressure on the scoring trio.
Centennial did not have Megan Nipe in the lineup due to a wedding.
