This game took place on Sunday, April, 29
COOPER AAU TOURNAMENT
15u Semifinals
NORTH TARTAN 15U 50, METRO STARS 14U 47

I originally had a gabcast report on this game (and the 19u semi win over Quest). I originally had a 56 score for North Tartan, but that was because in my scribblings my zero morphed into a six.

Both teams were hot to start this contest with scores occuring on six of the first eight possessions. Brooke Brown for Metro Stars started things off with a three. MS led 10-6 when North Tartan had a 7-0 run to go up 13-10. Suriya McGuire for NT had three points at the line in the push. MS tied it up on an & 1 by Brown. The rest of the first half saw seven ties. The last coming at 31. Taylor Cullers made two free throws with 24 seconds left for the final points in the first half MS up 33-31.

Both teams cooled off considerably in the second half. The scoring pace slowed and there were long stretches of drought. NT had a 9 possession drought and was 1/12 in the heart of the second half. Both teams were trading leads early in the half. NT led 35-34 on a drive by Kelsey Evans. Metro Stars went on a 11-2 run during that drought to go up 45-37. Another Brown drive were the final points MS would score and there were slightly over five minutes left. MS picked the wrong time to go into a drought with their last nine possessions coming up empty. Six of those possessions were turnover related. NT awoke from their offensive slumber and finished the game with 7/10 on their last ten possesseions. Katie Loberg tied the game with a post up & one at 47. Brown traveled for MS. Megan Lauck provide NT with the margin of victory with two free throws on their next possession. McGuire stole the ball twice from MS in the next two MS possessions. McGuire added one more point for the final point total of the game.

It is all about timing. MS picked the wrong time to have their drought. The younger squad did push the NT team to the limit. Late game situations/pressure situations/time & score situations all need to be addressed.
Here is the differences in NT pp100 by half: 1st half 88.6; 2nd 70.4. MS 94.3 and 50.0. The problem for MS was only Brown was able to convert in the second half. Only two others scored from the floor (Gress & Potter) and only Potter was able to score off the initial offense. NT used their superior size to wear MS down.
