FOREST LAKE AAU TOURNAMENT
The Junior Girls portion of the Forest Lake touranment was all about the pools today. I watched three games with the headliner being NC Heat's battle against MN Stars Hested in Pool F.

NC Heat beat MN Stars Hested 63-55. NC Heat will need to beat Southern Minny Elite to move on to the championship bracket. I will have more on this game later tonight.

There were more cancellations with 18 teams involved instead of 19. The revised schedule caught me flatfooted. I caught the tail end of the MN Quest MN Metro Stars Black contest in Pool C. Quest led MSB by 12 in the first half. MSB did come back and took a five point lead on a drive by Courtney Boylan "& 1" 52-47. Becca Friestleben came down and hit a three from the top of the key to cut the margin to 52-50. Boylan was fouled and she missed the front end of a one & one. Friestleben came down and hit the game winning three from the right wing as time expired stunning MSB and sending Quest on with their Quest to the championship. I don't know if there is a gbbrecruit jinx or not but both MSB and Boylan were team and player of the week last week.

Also I caught the last bit of MN Metro Stars White and MN Breeze in Pool B. MSW won 48-37.

Next was the Pool E with MN Swish taking on MN Northern Lynx. The Lynx were moved down from pool C to E replacing East Metro Elite. Swish turned it up a notch in the second half for a solid 56-32 win.

The final contest I watched was in Pool A with North Tartan taking on MN Stars Antl. North Tartan had a scare from Total Package in the 8:30 am game with a 52-49 win. TP has added Kiara Strickland to their roster. She did not play last weekend in Richfield. With that first game jitters out of the way NT came out a different squad and had their way 79-44. It should be noted that Jenny Gilbertson and Kamille Wahlin were both missing today from the NT line up. With the win NT moves on to the semis at 1:30 tomorrow. NT could see NC Heat which would be a match up between #1 and #2 in the gbbrecruit poll.

Former Gopher player and North Dakota State assistant Cara Pearson is now helping out at MN Stars Hested.
