I haven't been updating my Look at the Lynx that I did last year. I was swamped by the Forest Lake AAU results. I have heard the requests from the readers.
Here is the first game of the Lynx vs Indiana that took place on Friday. I am doing this to show, compare and contrast, the HS, AAU, and pro differences.
this game took place, Friday, May 18 at Indianapolis
INDIANA fever 83, MINNESOTA lynx 64
Since I wasn't there or watched it on tv, I have to rely on the play by play, but some trends are interesting to note:
1. MN had droughts of 5 and 8 possessions in the first half. The biggest Indiana drought was 7 during the MN 8 sequence.
2. Indiana put together more hot offensive sequences. They had a 6/8 possession sequence (14-5 run) to finish the first quarter up 24-17. At the start of the 3rd quarter they ran off 7 straight scoring possessions and were 9/10 to start for a 21-12 run. At the tail end of the third and beginning of the fourth the Fever struck again with six straight possessions a 14-6 run. Those three runs ((49-23) combined put MN in the sick bay with a fever. The rest of the game MN wins 41-34.
Minnesota's longest hot streak on offense was four possessions, three times, once in the first and twice in the third.
All of Seimone Augustus' points came in the middle two periods. Nicole Ohlde struck for 10 in the first quarter and five the rest of the way. She needs to be more consistent.
