This game took place on Sunday, May 27
Memorial Day Classic, Menomonie, WI
Gold Semifinals
CHIPPEWA FALLS 47, HLC 43

I reported on this game on Sunday on my Gabcast Channel, episode #32. Again the single school team Chippewa Falls withstood the multi school approach in a nailbiting 47-43 win over HLC, a team from the Fond du Lac Area.

The photo on the left has Shyla Kuehl of HLC going up for a shot with Jessica Anderson preparing for the rebound. Also in the shot for CF Andrea Larson #22; and Kelly Supernaw for HLC #31.

CF led 6-2 as HLC started on a six possession drought. CF had a 4/5 offensive sequence in the middle of the half to go up 15-10 after a 3 from Emily Mattison. After that CF went into hibernation on offense for nine possessions. HLC took advantage of the stalled CF offense to go on an 8-2 run. Jennifer Herrick provided seven of the HLC points in that burst. HLC led at the half 18-17.

CF shook the cobwebs off and started strong in the second half with four scoring possessions in a row on a 9-0 run. That gave them a 26-18 lead. The common denominator in all the CF points was Jessica Anderson. She had three assists and a pull up jumper. HLC had a rough start with a six possession drought, and 1/11 offensive sequence. CF had a 31-22 lead with about 9 minutes left. HLC snapped out of their sluggish start with four straight scores and 5/6 offensive sequence to close to 33-31. Kelly Supernaw had 4, and B Mueller had five in the 13-5 HLC run. CF bumped their lead back to 41-33 thanks to two consecutive 3s by Mattison with five minutes left. HLC wasn't finished however. HLC went on a 10-2 run with four straight scores to tie the game at 43. Herrick tied the game up with a drive "&1" with 30.4 seconds left. On the next CF possession Andrea Larson knocked down two free throws. Herrick's drive came up empty and once again Larson converted two free throws for the final 47-43 margin.
