This game took place Sunday, May 20
Forest Lake AAU Tournament
Junior Girls, Silver Semifinals
MN STARS HESTED 61, SWISH 37

I gave a report on this game on Sunday on my Gabcast channel, episode #24.

Swish started the game with a five possession drought. MN Stars Hested had a 4-0 lead before the Swish got on the scoreboard. Swish took the lead with a four of five possession offensive sequence. Providing the boost was Kristen Johnson with four points, and she was scoring on the initial offense post ups. MSH had a six possession drought opening the door for Swish to take control 18-12. There was over 7:30 left in the half and then the bottom fell out for the Swish and MSH started to rev up their motors. MSH outscored Swish 19-2 the rest of the first half. It started with six straight MSH scores in the space of two minutes as the full court press provided six points in a 11-0 run. Swish had subbed out Jordyn Sears before the start of the run. The only points Swish could muster was two free throws by Johnson. They finished the half 1/20 in their possessions. It was 31-20 at half MSH.

The second half MSH kept control of the pace and tempo early and pushed the lead to 34-20. Swish did have a mini 6-0 run to cut the margin back to 10. MSH had a drought of five during this sequence. There were other dry spells in the second half too for MSH with a 7 spot in the middle of the half. But Swish could never cut the margin below 10. MSH continued to build their lead. The bench played a good chunk of time in the second half.
