This game took place on Sunday, May 13
Richfield AAU Tournament
HS (16u) Semifinals
METRO STARS BLACK 47, METRO STARS WHITE 39

This was a civil war, family fued match up. And as usual in these contests no one wants to be showed up and every move is contested. In the end it was the Black topping the White.

White struck first with Kayla Blom dropping a three, followed by a lay up by Laura Bruce. That put White up 5-0. Black ran off 8 straight with Courtney Boylan leading the way with the first six Black points. Black stretched it out to 22-14 with a trey from Sarah Wiens from the top of the key with 4:53 to go in the half. Black closed the half however with a 1/8 scoring sequence. White did edge back to trail 23-20 at half.

A Bruce "& 1" tied the game at 23. Black took the lead right back with a pull up by Boylan. That started a 6-0 run. White used the three ball again to close the gap. This time it was Kyana Johnson striking from the left corner to shorten the margin to 31-29. The Whites again cut it with a 3 to 37-36 on a Blom shot from the left corner. That was White's last score in 11 possessions. By the time the drought was over they were trailing 43-36. Laura Weber was the first Black to put distance between White with two free throws. Black wasn't exactly ripping it up during the time with a 2/10 offensive sequence. Black did finish better with 4/5 scores, with three trips to the line and a lay up off a missed White shot.
