this game took place on Sunday, May 27
Menomonie Memorial Day Classic
Gold quarterfinals
CHIPPEWA FALLS 54, LAKESHORE BREAKERS 46

This was the highest scoring game of all the Memorial Day Classic games I saw on Sunday and I saw 8 games. This game pitted a school team, Chippewa Falls vs a multi school team from the Manitowoc area in Eastern Wisconsin. The team familiarity may have helped push CF on despite 20 points and 6 3s from the Breaker's Rachel Kerchefske.

CF started off with three straight scoring possessions and a 5-0 lead. Jessica Anderson notched three points at the line in the initial scoring burst. Kerchefske struck for her first 3 of the game and the Breakers' first points. CF had another string of four offensive possessions with a 7-4 run. But the Breakers wouldn't break. On two possessions the Breakers scored five points with an "& 1" from C. Paquette. CF came back two possessions later with a transition lay up by Linsey Adams. The Breakers later broke a 18 all tie with three straight scores to go up 26-20. Kerchefske knocked down two straight 3s to close their scoring. CF's Andrea Larson scored their last four points with a put back and a post up to close 26-24 Breakers.

The Breakers reached the high water mark with a 33-29 lead with 16 minutes to go after a "& 1" from Allyson Binversie. Then CF started their blitz with a 8/9 possession string and, later a 19-1 run. Anderson had 9 points to lead CF in that stretch. The Breakers had to climb back from the hole with 8 minutes to go. Again leading the charge for the Breakers was Kerchefske with her 5th three. The closest the Breakers were to get was 50-46 with 1:52 left after a put back from Binversie. That was to be the Breakers last points. Neither team finished strong with the Breakers going 0/3, all on turnovers, while CF was 2/6 with 3 turnovers. CF did kill the clock with a possession that took three lines on my notebook. With running time subbing and taking your time to enter the game became the norm.
