This game took place on Friday, June 29
Dakota Showcase
Augustana, Sioux Falls
METRO STARS BLACK 54, TEAM RUNZA 38
Team Runza is from Nebraska.
MSB had the same themes that would crop up again and again this weekend: strong suffocating defense, good offensive balance. MSB put the clamps down early in the first half holding TR to a 1/11 offensive sequence on a 15-2 run. During part of that stretch MSB had a 9/11 offensive sequence. In the first half all nine MSB players scored. The leading scorer at half was wearing TR blue: Traci Keyser with 7. MSB led 29-16 at half.
For the second half MSB continued their spread. The game was never in question. MSB led at one point 36-18. A 6-0 run for TR cut it to 36-24, but that was as close as it got. MSB did have one offensive string with five straight scores.
