AAU NATIONAL TOURNAMENT
Junior tournament
NC Heat beat the Missouri Valley HMC Select team during their first game of bracket play, 84 - 64. Score at the half was closer with the NC Heat leading 38 - 29. Takeaways were still below normal as the patented NCH press is not coming up with their usual steal numbers. Ephesia Holmes and Tayler Hill both got back on track, primarily on drives. They combined for 3/12 behind the arc but finished with 48 of the team's 84 points. Their free throws were money as Hill went 8/8 and Holmes 9/11.

Today it's the top seed from the "G" bracket, Orlando Comets Red, at 10:45 am. The Comets beat the tournament's #4 seed in pool play by 1 point to advance as the top seed in their pool. This team won the 16U AAU nationals last year as a mix of 15U and 16U. 5 players went D1 NCAA this year but this year's edition is very strong and has yet to lose, winning by 50 today.
