A SCOUTS LIFE
There is a good article in the USA Today paper about the life of a scout and what they are looking for in players. The article follows a football scout, but the same lessons could be applied to basketball or any sport.
SOUL OF A CHAMPION
Also this past week in USA Today they ran the last of the Soul of a Champion with Coach Bob Knight and his principle he believes in.

The Gophers face a team where coach Pam Borton began her coaching journey---Vermont. From the StarTribune and MN Daily.

Michigan State rode Rhode Island to a 67-40 victory. 6-9 freshman Alyssa DeHaan checked in with 28 points. Mpls North's Mia Johnson had 7 for MSU.

Illinois beat St. Louis 84-75 on the road. Johnston, IA native Lori Bjork had 25 for the Illini. Bloomington Kennedy's Jenna Smith chipped in with 8.

Northwestern beat Illinois Chicago 72-57. In a way this was a battle of MN Millers--Melissa of Breck (NW) had a lucky 13 in points and rebounds, while Jessie, Holy Angels (UIC) now in the starting line up had 9 points. Eastview's Cassie Johnson had 16 off the bench for UIC.

DePaul just edged UW Green Bay 71-70. UWGB was up one with 3.6 seconds left. DePaul's Caprice Smith hit the game winner with 0.3 left. UWGB trailed by 15 in the second half. From the GB Press Gazette.

Kentucky powered past Detroit 79-44. Benilde's Chanica Hall didn't score in this contest for Detroit.

Bowling Green chopped down Oakland 89-58

Marquette beat city rival UW Milwaukee 74-63

Pittsburgh zapped Akron 74-55. Mandy Holzer from Jordan started for Akron and had one point. Teammate Allison Schoff, of Bloomington Kennedy had 7.

St. Joseph's outpointed Princeton 81-69. Apple Valley's Ali Pritchard had 8, Jillian Schurle, Hopkins had 5 for Princeton.

Bragging rights are on the line tonight as Iowa State travels to Iowa. The rivalry reviewed at the Des Moines Register.

St. Catherine knocked off Bethel 74-65

St. Thomas rolled St. Mary's 86-35

UW LaCrosse beat UW Whitewater 65-61. also from the LaCrosse Tribune.

UW River Falls was more than UW Superior 75-33

UW Stevens Point took out UW Oshkosh 57-41. Also from the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Mount Marty downed Dakota Wesleyan 71-62. From the Yankton Press & Dakotan.

Morningside beat Dordt 87-69. Morningside is now 7-3. From the Sioux City Journal.

Mel Shidell's free throws in overtime gave Briar Cliff a 75-74 win over Dana. Shidell went to Andover HS in MN. From the SC Journal.

Northwestern IA beat Sioux Falls 87-77

Indiana Wesleyan beat Spring Arbor 62-48. From the Jackson Citizen Patriot.

Mayville State won their fourth game in a row Monday night 81-48 at UM Morris. The Comets were led in scoring by Laura Big Crow who scored a game high 24 points and grabbed 9 rebounds. Mayville State improves to 8-2 overall this season, and will play the University of North Dakota this Saturday afternoon at 3:00 pm.

JUCO
St. Clair County Community College beat Wayne County CC 60-47. From the Port Huron Times-Herald
