Hillsdale Signs 3, Tourney Previews

SIGNINGS
Hillsdale has signed three players including Catherine Nass, a 6-3 center from Rochester Century. The other two are Laura Barczak, Franklin, WI and Kara McCormick from StoneBridge in Chesapeake, VA.

COLLEGE REPORT
TOP 25 ACTION
#5 Tennessee beat #20 UCLA 83-60. Candace Parker didn't dunk, but had 22 points in the win. UCLA had 26 turnovers in the loss.

#8 UConn smashed & trashed Colgate 81-37. Now the Huskies are headed to Italy.

#10 LSU took care of LA Lafayette 65-31. Sylvia Fowles had a double/double.

#13 Texas A&M more than doubled up on Mercer 95-41

#15 Vanderbilt rallied to beat Western Kentucky 86-78. Vandy finished with a 17-2 run.

#16 Baylor prevented #22 BYU an upset opportunity 84-58. They will now host Purdue for the WNIT title.

Penn squeeked by Lehigh 54-53. Maggie Burress made the game winner with 15 ticks left.

Penn State rolled Notre Dame 75-49. PSU outshot ND 48% to 23%. It was the Irish's first loss on the year.

Alabama A&M beat Birmingham-Southern 70-58

Bethune-Cookman beat Stetson 60-55

Chattanooga built a good lead to beat Clemson 73-64

Georgia Tech set records in their 83-41 win over Georgia State.

Liberty obliterated Columbia Union 97-27

William & Mary picked up their first win of the year with a 67-54 win over Richmond.

Cincinnati beat neirghoring rival Dayton 65-60

Kansas topped neighbor UMKC 66-53. Freshman Kelly Krohn from Adrian, Michigan led the Jayhawks with 13. Wayzata's Jowan Ortega had 2 for UMKC.

Gonzaga took a bite out of Sacramento State 84- 43

PREVIEWS
Minnesota hosts the Subway Classic this weekend with Middle Tennessee State playing Maine in the early game and the Gophers faciing Princeton in the 3 pm game. The MN Daily has a preview of the tournament. Former Hopkins players Jillian Schurle plays for Princeton; and Abby Greene is with Maine. Their former teammate Leslie Knight plays for the Gophers. Also on the Princeton roster is Ali Pritchard from Apple Valley.

Iowa hosts their own tournament the Hawkeye Challenge. They open with Quinnipiac. They will face either Florida A&M or Florida International on Saturday. From the Daily Iowan.

Grand Valley State plucked Olivet 63-40

Concordia St. Paul will be hosting the Wildwood Lodge Tip Off Classic. UM Duluth faces MSU Moorhead at 6 pm tonight. CSP sees Northern Michigan.

Bemidji State travels to MSU Mankato and will face Augustana in the opener at 1 pm. UM Crookston play the hosts at 6 pm. From the Bemidji Pioneer.

Lakeland opens with their "Play With Grace" Tip-Off Tournament. They open with Milwaukee School of Engineering at 6 pm. The other contest has North Park facing MacMurray. From the Sheboygan Press.

NAIA
Martin Luther is looking for respect as they start their season. They open their season at the Valley City State tournament. From the New Ulm Journal.

JUCO
MN West lost to Iowa Lakes and it wasn't close 77-31. From the Worthington Daily Globe. You will need to scroll past the men's win to get there.

Ridgewater's season is previewed in the West Central Tribune. They made the national tournament last year, but will be without some players because they are in the volleyball nationals. You will need to scroll past the men's outlook first.
