MINNESOTA
This week the HS Opens. Here is where to go

The big event will take place at the Pat Paterson Memorial Tournament at Hamline with Centennial facing a rejuvenated Mpls North with Maurika Carlisle returning after a year out with a knee injury, and St. Paul Central with their new look transfers squaring off against AAAA State Champ Hopkins in the night cap. The games start at 6 pm on Friday.

On Saturday It is the Big 9 vs Lake Conference teams at Rochester Century starting at noon with Rosemount facing JM; then Mayo taking on Lakeville North; Farmington plays Owatonna and Century seeing Lakeville South in the finale.

Another big event is happening at Hudson with Minnesota teams Blaine, Holy Angels, and more facing Hudson, Menomonie, and Superior lining up for Wisconsin. That two day event starts earlier in the day on Friday.

Red Wing hosts a tournament with Chisago Lakes, River Falls, WI and Waseca.
The rest are tied for 5
Jackson County Central, Mayer Lutheran will both be involved at the Sleepy Eye St. Mary's Tournament
Zumbrota-Mazeppa has a tournament with Medford, Pine Island, and Chatfield.
Norwood-Young America hosts a tournament with Mound-Westonka, Eden Valley-Watkins involved.
Byron has a tournament with Kingsland, Triton, and St. Charles.
Lewiston-Altura runs their tournament with Caledonia, Stewartville and Kenyon-Wanamingo
Janesville-Waldorf-Pemberton also runs a tournament with Kasson-Mantorville among the teams involved.
Plainview-Elgin-Millville takes their combined school to Decorah Iowa for a tournament there.
ILLINOIS ACTION
Rockridge edged West Central 48-39. The game was tied at halftime at 21 from the Burlington Hawk Eye.
IOWA
Marshalltown is previewed before their season opener in the Marshalltown Times-Republican.
Charmaine Bell and Nelia Olson are featured in the Des Moines Register on how they spent the summer to improve.
Iowa City Regina and other area teams are previewed in the Iowa City Press Citizen.
MICHIGAN
Regions begin today in Michigan and will wrap up before Thanksgiving.
Detroit King and Livonia Ladywood are preparing for their confrontation in regions. Ladywood pinned the only loss on King this year on November 11 48-37. More in the Detroit News.
At the start of the year Brighton was a preseason #1, but stumbled out of the gate. Now they are knocking on the state tournament door with a 19-3 record. Brighton and Howell, coached by Piephos, are showcased in the Livingstone Press & Argus.
Onaway and and Posen are featured in the Alpena News on their chances.
The Mt. Pleasant Morning Sun gives the prognosis on the regional chances for Mt. Pleasant, Clare, and Beal City.
