MINNESOTA 78, CHARLOTTE 66
Here is the Minnesota and Charlotte stories
Here is what I saw with the flow of the game. Charlotte had problems at the start with an eight possession drought and they found themselves trailing 11-2. Minnesota's defense was forcing Charlotte to basically dribble the arc and cast up shots without too many other players getting involved. Dribble penetration and passes inside were rare.
The second part of the first half was better for the offenses as they got in the flow. For MN's first 17 possessions they scored on 7 times, in the next 17 possessions they scored 11. Charlotte was much better going from 4 to 10. MN led 42-38 at the half.
Charlotte scored the first four possessions of the second half and found themselves with a 46-44 lead. They did manage to build it up to 52-48. Zoe Harper scored on a put back to make it 54-53 as the Gophers grabbed the lead once again. The game was tied three times, the last time at 59. Brittany McCoy scored a free throw with 7:12 to go to give the Gophers the lead for good. Kelly Roysland hit a pull up jumper on the next possession. Charlotte hit a six possesion drought at this point with three ending up as turnovers. Katie Ohm scored five straight points on a three and then a steal with a foul resulting in two free throws. The last three minutes Minnesota's points came at the line.

MINNESOTA
STARTERS
Brittany McCoy, G, 6, 12, 50.0, .333 rangy, perhaps being groomed to be the stopper. RF: needs to finish breaks, get a better angle
Leslie Knight, F, 11, 11, 100.0, .545 solid, uses body well in sealing. RF: decisions need to be quicker on offense and executed sharply
Zoe Harper, C, 6, 4, 150.0, .750 Big body--a McCarville frame, RF: spent too much time on the pine with fouls
Kelly Roysland, G, 15, 16, 93.8, .438 decent shot, veteran glue. nice pull up jumper RF: needs to stay lower on defense.
Emily Fox, G, 16, 14, 114.3, .500 point guard with speed. RF: needs to keep better vision on the basket when taking the ball up court, avoided traps, but I am not a fan of the spin.
BENCH
Ashley Ellis-Milan, C, 6, 9, 66.7, .333 big, strong on the boards. RF: foul issues
Korrine Campbell, F, 8, 6, 133.3, .667 interesting player. better days are in store. RF: still has some freshmen nerves.
Jordan Barnes, G, 1, 1, 100.0, 1.000 does what she needs to do.
Katie Ohm, G, 9, 5, 180.0, .800 a good scorer, aggressive offensively, takes decent shots RF: defensively needs to stay much lower, and needs to keep better track of her player. Too many fouls and one in the first half.

NUMBER CRUNCHING
Minnesota 78, 78, 100.0, .500
Charlotte 66, 79, 83.5, .418
Minnesota was right on the 100 mark, they avoided big droughts, but they also never put together big strings. Defensively Minnesota needs to get lower with on the ball defense. Too often they are higher than the player they are guarding. Charlotte's offense never looked too efficient. They had quicker/faster players, but never executed crisply with too much arc dribbling.
