HUDSON TURKEY CLASSIC
SUPERIOR spartans 46, MENOMONIE indians 34

First off this is not a tournament, this is an event where teams mix and match. The first game featured two Wisconsin teams. And has been the case in the early part of the year, neither team was sharp in their offensive execution. The First 12 possessions had no scoring. Superior broke the ice first with a free throw by Laura Amys. Menomonie went 10 possessions without scoring. Superior was up 8-4 at the quarter.

It was more of the same in the second quarter except for one brief burst of offense by Superior. as they scored on four of five possessions. But in a see saw move, Superior finished the half on an eight possession drought. However Menomonie couldn't really take advantage of the situation only converting two of their last 10. Superior led 15-11 at half.

There was a literal explosion of points in the third quarter. Superior ended the quarter with a 7/9 scoring streak and behind it all was Lindsey Lindstrom with 11 including the exclamation point 3 at the buzzer. Superior was in command at 30-21. It also was the lowest possession quarter of all the games today at Hudson. Superior had 12 possessions, about 10 possessions fewer than the Holy Angels/Blaine game and 5 possessions less than the Minnehaha/Hudson game.

Menomonie did cut the lead to six early in the fourth quarter twice on a three point play the old fashioned way by Jena Darwin. But Superior met the challenge with a 4/5 possession scoring burst at the start of the quarter. Amys had four points for Superior in the run, but the ball handling decisions took out Menomonie.

NUMBERS EXPLAINED
player, points, possessions, pp100, floor %
SUPERIOR
STARTERS
Lindsey Lindstrom, 22, 18, 122.2, .611 a prime time player, big guard that has to play inside due to the small stature of her teammates. She has good vision when bringing the ball up; is energetic; went to the basket with authority; She put her signature on the game in the 3rd quarter when she had 11 of Superiors points. RF: favors the spin too much; at the line missed her free throws when she didn't hold the follow through. finger rolls will be swatted by bigger, quicker teams.
Shannon Lehikoinen, 7, 13, 53.8, .308 RF: needs to work on ball handling issues
Taylor Kosey, 2, 5, 40.0, .200 RF: needs to get stronger (a refrain for all children). passing needs to be quicker, sharper. Looks down when dribbling.
Laura Amys, 9, 10, 90.0, .500 decent size. RF: could be doing more I think. hampered with fouls.
Britnee Blake, 2, 10, 20.0, .100 RF: bounces the ball everytime she touches it. forced things on offense.
BENCH
Megan Holen, 0, 1, 0.0, .000
Megan Gallagher, 4, 3, 133.3, .667

Yer Lee, 2, 6, 33.3, .167 pretty quick. RF: needs ball handling/shooting work.
Samantha Bass, 8, 8, 100.0, .500 was in the right spot at times;
Kelsey Andrist, 12, 15, 80.0, .400 thin. not afraid to get hit. vocal; RF: needs to get stronger, much stronger.
Jena Darwin, 5, 6, 83.3, .333 big post player. gumsmacker; RF: frustrated by Lindstrom's defense. wasn't allowed to do what she wanted. needs to get her shot off faster.
BENCH
Brianna Steinmeyer, 0, 4, 0.0, .000
Sophie Dahl, 0, 4, 0.0, .000
Leah Stanley, 0, 5, 0.0, .000
Tasha Stark, 5, 6, 83.3, .333 RF: favors spin way too ofen

TRENCH PLAYER
Lindsey Lindstrom

BY THE NUMBES
Superior 46, 62, 74.2, .387
Menomonie 34, 62, 54.8, .258
Even with good numbers in the second half these total numbers are not sharp. Both teams ran their patterns, both teams tried to get the right shot, they weren't just flinging shots up, but their shooting skills, and quickness in passing need improvement.
