Northwestern chewed up Miami Ohio 80-51. Melissa Miller, Northwestern, formerly Breck, had 4 points in the contest along with 8 rebounds.

#12 Purdue pulverized Washington 88-64

Hawkeye Classic
Iowa was 7 away from the century mark with a 93-77 win over Quinnipiac.

Wisconsin beat Central Connecticut 75-45. The Wisconsin State Journal uses a James Bond theme in their story. Janese Banks and her play are highlighted in the Capital Times.

Michigan State triumphed Bucknell 68-51. Freshman 6-9 center Alyssa DeHaan had 15 points including a jumper from the free throw line. From the Grand Rapids Press.

South Dakota State upset #19 Southern Cal 67-63. It was SDSU's first win over a ranked team since moving up to D1 status. SDSU went without a field goal the last 8 minutes. SDSU is turning heads and raising eyebrows. One wonders if the next plum job in the nation has Aaron Johnston's name on it.
The next SDSU opponent is SW MN State for a Sunday matinee.

Drake had a tight game and delivered a 75-72 win over UW Milwaukee. Traci Edwards had 29 for UWM, a career high. also from the Des Moines Register.

Nebraska took care of Cal St.-Fullerton 76-62. Cory Montgomery, formerly of Cannon Falls, led Nebraska with 15, 13 in the second half.

D2 ACTION
Augustana handled Bemidji State 92-76 in the MSU Mankato Pepsi Tip off. From the S F Argus Leader.
MSU Mankato stampeded UM Crookston 89-45 in the other contest.

MSU Moorhead edged UM Duluth 52-50 in one of the Wildwood Lodge Tip-Off tournament games.
Northern Michigan also had a tight win over host Concordia St. Paul 54-53. NMU hit the game winning lay up with two seconds left.

North Dakota held on to beat Metro State 69-66 in the Holiday Inn Chinook Wireless Yellowjacket Classic in Billings.

UN Omaha beat Colorado St.-Pueblo 70-55 in the Al Kaly Shrine Classic in Pueblo.
St. Cloud State stopped CO Colorado Springs 74-55. Shannon Francis reached the 1000 point mark for St. Cloud State

Northern State held the advantage at the end 68-63 over Colorado Christian. Also from the Aberdeen American News.

Michigan Tech utilized their freshmen in a 73-63 win over UW Parkside in the GLIAC/GLVC Challenge.

Saginaw Valley State lost their first game to Henderson State 68-59. from the Saginaw News.

UW Platteville ripped Clarke 87-48 in the Ripon tournament opener.

Edgewood edged Carroll 66-64 on a Jordane Kittoe with 2.3 seconds to go. Megan Scheele had 38 points in the win. From the Capital Times.

Alma beat Anderson 66-56 in the Anderson tip-off classic.

Hillsdale opened the season with a 68-55 win over Walsh in the Mountain View Inn Tournament. From the Jackson Citizen Patriot.
