Volkens Signs

SIGNINGS
Allison Volkens, Gladbrook-Reinbeck signed with Emporia State. The 6-2 center played with Iowa Select I this summer. She averaged 19.8 ppg for G-R last year.

Jess Peterson, Chisago Lakes has verballed/signed with Northern State. Peterson, a 6-0 forward averaged 16.3 ppg on the 8-13 team last year.

Southern Illinois signed six.
Paris Campbell, 6-2 forward from Chicago Whitney Young
Brenna Saline, 5-7 guard from Galesburg, IL
Katrina Swingler, 6-0 guard from Teutopolis, IL
Ellen Young, a 5-6 guard from Salem, IL
Natalie Taylor, a 6-0 guard from DePere, WI
Tanaeya Worden, 5-6 point guard from Sioux City North, IA
The Sioux City Journal has more on Worden and Jacqui Kalin, who signed with Northern Iowa. They also run down some of the other UNI and Iowa State signees.

Ally Sisal, Luxemburg-Casco has signed with Idaho State. Sisal is a 6-2 Center. From the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

Jessica Kielpinski, Mandan, ND signed with New Mexico. 27 D1 coaches were after the 6-1 center. From the Bismarck Tribune.

The Capital Times features three Madison players that signed:
Hayley Linn, Madison Edgewood to Indiana
Courtney Waldon, Sun Prairie to Chicago State
Justine Hayes, Madison Memorial to Cleveland State.

Wisconsin's three signees-Lin Zastrow, Jefferson, WI; Alyssa Karel, Cretin-Derham Hall, and Tara Steinbauer, Bloomington Kennedy-are also featured in the Capital Times. Most of the article features Zastrow. The Watertown Daily Times also has the three covered.

UM Duluth inked Tartan Katie Haas, not Hans. The 6-3 center averaged 10.5 ppg for the 26-3 Tartan team last year. She also played with North Tartan Blue in AAU Season.

Shonda Long, Saginaw Buena Vista gets her signing story to Central Michigan in the Saginaw News.

Amber Peters, Kalamazoo Valley CC has signed with Grand Valley State, the D2 national champs. Peters played HS ball at Niles, MI.

TRANSFERS
Bianca Davis is at Mpls North. She played two years ago at Mpls Henry. She was out with a knee injury last year.

COACHING NEWS
Dean Brown will be assisting at Mpls Washburn. Brown has been a coach at Totino-Grace and Park Center in the past.

SHOWCASE
The Hoopster event will be held in Bismarck on December 8 and 9. Teams involved include Underwood, Minnewaukan-Leeds, Tioga, Kindred, and Litchville-Marion-Montpelier.

COLLEGE
Former Minneapolis North players Mia Johnson (Michigan State) and Daria Frazier (Wichita State) have been in the starting line up. Johnson had 8 and Frazier had 9 in their opening exhibition wins.

The Gophers open their season tonight at home at 6 pm against Northern Iowa. The StarTribune and MN Daily each preview the action.

Wisconsin gets a big push in the Capital times with a look at the roster, numbers, and expectations. The Wisconsin State Journal also chimes in.

North Dakota has been chosen to finish first in the North Central.

Julie Henderson a 5-11 point guard at Hope has had to overcome knee injuries to reach the top. From the Grand Haven Tribune.

St. Clair County CC won their first game of the year trouncing St. Clair of Ontario 95-47. From the Port Huron Times Herald.
