Gophers to Face Middle TN State

SIGNING
Tiffany LeGreair, Detroit Northwestern a 6-3 center has signed with Coppin State. LeGreair averaged 7.8 points a game this year. From the Detroit Free Press.

D1 ACTION
The Minnesota Gophers won their first game in the Subway Classic with a 85-60 win over Princeton. The StarTribune looks at the lunch bucket and flair the Gophers play with. Minnesotans Ali Pritchard, Apple Valley and Jillian Schurle, Hopkins had 6 and 4 for the Tigers.
The Gophers will face Middle Tennessee State in the championship today, MTSU beat Maine 87-60 in the other semifinals. Abby Greene, Hopkins starts as a freshman and had 2 for Maine. Lindsey Hugsted-Vaa, Breck had 8 off the bench for the Black Bears.

Iowa had to come from behind to beat Florida International 72-62. Lindsey Nyenhuis had three 3s to help the Hawkeyes. From the Des Moines Register.

Michigan trailed by 8 in the second half before mounting a comeback to beat UNLV 68-58 on the road. From the Ann Arbor News too.

Illinois won another instate rivalry game with an 87-59 victory over Loyola of Chicago. Lori Bjork, Johnston IA had 15, and Jenna Smith,, Bloomington Kennedy had 6 for the Illini.

Eastern Michigan coach Suzy Merchant picked up career win #200 in a 90-66 win over Morehead State From the Ann Arbor News.

#3 Oklahoma enjoyed their stay in Hawaii, but weren't kind to the hosts in a 76-56 win in the Waikiki Beach Marriott Classic. From the Honolulu Star Bulletin and Honolulu Advertiser.

Ball State edged Wright State 75-68. It was Wright State's first game.

Boston University slipped by in a come from behind win over UMKC 68-66

Bowling Green won the UCF Golden Knights Tournament in Orlando with an 87-56 win over Fairleigh Dickinson.

St Louis survived after leading by 17 in a 66-65 win over UT Martin.

Xavier won their own tournament with a 75-65 victory over Loyola Marymount.

New Akron coach Jodi Kest won her first game at the school in a 55-44 win over Binghamton in the Florida Atlantic Tip-Off Classic. Former Bloomington Kennedy player Allison Schoff had 7 for Akron.

Denver crunched Lamar 97-43. It was Denver's first game. Megan Givens, Breck had 6 for Denver.

UM Duluth finally had luck roll their way as they won a tight game 76-73 over host Concordia St. Paul. CSP led 73-69 with 37 seconds left. UMD's Steph Reiter, Blaine canned the go ahead trey.
MSU Moorhead won the CSP tournament with a 66-55 win over Northern Michigan.

Augustana won their second game in Mankato with a 63-50 win over UM Crookston. From the Sioux Falls Argus Leader.
MSU Mankato also won their second game with a 76-67 win over Bemidji State. Flecia Foster was named MVP of the tournament. From the Mankato Free Press and Bemidji Pioneer.

Winona State downed down river rival UW LaCrosse 70-63.

Northern State is now 3-0 after a 64-46 win over Colorado Mines in the Colorado Christian Tournament. From the Aberdeen American News.

St. Cloud State won the Al Kaly Shrine Classic over Colorado St.-Pueblo 75-59. from the St. Cloud Times.

North Dakota is without the services of Casey Maffin and Danye Guinn provided the lift again in a 71-62 win over MSU Billings in the Yellowjacket Classic. From the Grand Forks Herald.

Upper Iowa toasted Loras 68-46.

Lewis topped out Michigan Tech 82-69.

St. Thomas edged Northland 53-49 in the Redlands tournament for their first win of the year.

St. Mary's MN got beat by Lewis & Clark 52-38 in the Bon Appetite Classic in Portland, Oregon.

St. Benedict lost in their first game out Emmanuel College Tip-Off Tournament to Connecticut Wesleyan 60-57. From the St. Cloud Times.

Concordia Moorhead beat #17 Notre Dame College 77-63 in the Great Ships Tipoff Tournament in Virginia. CM's Melanie Hageman was named tourney MVP.
Salisbury outpointed St. Olaf in the same tournament 77-67.

St. Catherine traveled to California and came home 2-0. They destroyed Cal Tech 88-40 on Satruday. They hung on Friday with a 52-48 win over Whittier.

Stout took the Carroll title with a 70-50 win over Edgewood.

Superior stopped Clarke 79-59

Presentation reached the century mark with a 100-46 victory over Canadian Mennonite University. From the American News.

Bethany beat Dominican 88-62 in the Alverno Classic.

St. Scholastica split over the weekend. They lost to 58-55 to Viterbo Friday , and they beat Lawrence 64-50.
UW Stevens Point won their own tournament with a 69-31 win over Viterbo.

Northwestern MN had their tournament this past weekend. NW lost to North Central 49-47 on Friday, and lost to Judson 79-71 on Saturday.
In the same tournament Mayville State beat Judson and North Central in the championship game 85-45. Laura Big Crow for Mayville State was named MVP of the Tournament.

Central IA upset #10 Washington MO 80-69.

UW Platteville beat host Ripon to win their tournament 88-77.

Lakeland won their game against MacMurray College 69-39. From the Sheboygan Press.

Simpson took care of St. Norbert 74-59. From the Green Bay Press-Gazette.

UW Oshkosh lost in the finals of the Forester Tip-Off in Lake Forest IL to the hosts 76-61. From the Oshkosh Northwestern.

Albion split this weekend in Indiana coming away with a 62-44 win over Manchester on Saturday.

Hope held on and knocked off #4 Baldwin-Wallace in the Hope Tip off tournament by the narrow margin of 68-66. Julie Henderson scored the game winning lay up with less than two seconds left. From the Grand Rapids Press.

Hillsdale won the Mountain View Tip-Off in Greensburg, Pa. with a 72-55 victory over Seton Hill (not Hall). from the Jackson Citizen-Patriot.

Northwestern IA edged Mount Marty 66-64 in the Great Plains conference opener for each.

#7 Morningside missed the century mark by one in a 99-65 GPAC win over Sioux Falls. From the Sioux City Journal.

Doane led by 19, then trailed by 4 before coming back to beat Concordia, Neb. 70-66

Black Hills State climbed Rocky Mountain 78-57

JUCO ACTION
St. Clair Co CC lost a tight 61-59 game to Muskegon CC. On Friday SC4 lost to Kalamazoo 74-54. From the Port Huron Herald Times.

Kellogg CC downed Mott CC 91-76. The game had to moved up four hours so people could watch the Michigan/Ohio State football game. From the Flint Journal.

Mesabi Range knocked out Ridgewater 58-42.
