Out & About: Rochester/Mesabi Range

#3 posting 2.24.2006

Game # 2 at the MCCC State Tournament

Rochester 78, Mesabi Range 56

Rochester led right from the start in a battle between the #3 South (Rochester) and #2 North (Mesabi). The only tie in this game was at 2. Again the South took the contest. Rochester did so on the basis of their sharper, quicker passing. They led 15-4 early on, and led 38-20 at half.

In the second half it was more of the same as Rochester kept adding to their lead. Roch put together an 8 possession string and 9/10 where they went on a 17-9 run and put the game out of reach 66-36. Roch ran the secondary break often during this stretch as their athleticism and crispness would beat Mesabi down court most of the time. Jessica O'Leary was doing quite a bit of the damage at this point with 8 of the points during the run. Rochester subbed freely and the final was 78-56.

Rochester will take on Minneapolis tomorrow at 6 pm in the semis.
