3A South Quarterfinals
#1 Murray Co Central 66, SVRLB 37
The first game of the day was over quickly as MCC jumped out to a 12-0 lead and never looked back. MCC had a five possession string where six different players scored. One possession Jenny Starken made the first free throw, missed the second, and Danielle Gengler rebounded and was fouled. She made a free throw as well on the same possession. SVRLB was 0/7 to start the game, 0/8 in the middle of the half. MCC caught the same bug as they were 0/6 during SVRLB’s second drought. All in all there were 13 straight possessions by both teams where no one scored. That doesn’t make for great fan viewing. MCC led at half 29-9.
The second half was more of the same. SVRLB started off cold again 0/7. MCC pushed the lead to 36-11. The only thing that kept my attention during this blow out was the play of 8th grade center Emily Bose. She scored five straight times (not possessions mind you) with 10 points. MCC subbed freely and won 66-37.
Height matters: MCC 5-7.2; SVRLB 5-6.6
Department of Defense: MCC man & press full court; SVRLB 2/3 to start
A word on these evaluations. Most all players need to get stronger, and are outsized. I’m going to talk about a few. Both teams ball handling/decision making need improvement.

Bench
Danielle Gengler 4, 5, 80.0, .600 decent size for HS inside.
Emily Bose 20, 11, 181.8, .909 8th grader. Good size, nice hands, nice touch. Good feet. Slowly working way into lineup. Good potential, will dominate in the future at this level. One to keep an eye on. RF: missed more free throws. I’m sure this will be corrected in four years. SVRLB players lost her, so some points came pretty easily

Obviously the MCC had superior players all the way down the line up. FT did not make difference.
