#2 posting 2.24.2006
This is my first foray into remote blogging. I brought my computer with to Ridgewater CC in Willmar, site of the MCCC State Tournament (MN Junior College)
First Game
Minneapolis 67, Hibbing 53
I will just give a thumb nail: Hibbing led early 6-0, but eventually the speed, athleticism would wear them out as Minneapolis. Hibbing was competitive and in the game the first half as they led 28-29 at the break
They extended that lead to 31-28 on the first possession of the second half, but with Hibbing up 34-32 at the 15:05 mark Mpls went on a six possession scoring string and 14-2 run to take command. Leading the way for Mpls was Shakira Owens who had 12 of those points--six points on two 3s, and six on three cherry picking layups. With the score 45-40 Mpls. again the Mauraders went on a tear. Again it was a six possession scoring string and a 12-0 run. Doing the most damage at this point was Lakita Davis with 8 points, 6 of which came on put backs. At this point Mpls lead 57-40 and was not seriously challenged the rest of the way.
