Out & About: Lester Prairie/Heritage Christian

#3 posting 2.18.2006

7th Place game
Lester Prairie 57, Heritage Christian 38

In the first of the revenge battles Lester Prairie staged a strong second half offensive show to beat Heritage 57-38.

In the first half there were five ties, the last coming at 17. LP's Abby Remer scored on transition as Jessie Habisch stole the ball off the dribble. HC from that point went on 12-4 run to end the half. Bridget Berry started the run off by making the free throw after scoring in traffic. Abby McLellan scored twice on skip passes against the zone. LP had a drought of 0/6 during this time. Heritage led at half 29-23

On the first possession in the second half HC added to their margin. It was to be the high water mark as Sarah Dzik made one free throw. LP began their comeback right away as Amanda Melander made two free throws. LP had a 6/7 possession string to take the lead 35-32. Again Melander finished the run with a three. Heritage had offensive problems all half. They had strings of 0/9 and 0/7 with only one possession seperating them with a score. A 1/17 possession run does not keep the lead. LP had two more strings of four. Heritage only managed 9 points in the second half. HC's pp100 in the second half would have been an abysmal 26.5. The bigger Heritage players did not play with the emotion or heart that is critical in post season play. There was a vacant look in the eyes as if they had checked out already.

Height Matters: Heritage Christian 5-10, Lester Prairie 5-6.8
Department of Defense: 2/3 zones.

Sarah Dzik 9, 21, 42.9, .238 big body, RF: needs more polish, smoothing. work on shot release
Bridget Berry 7, 9, 77.8, .333 big frame. RF: fouls, footwork. could be a force if were more aggressive.
