Smith to NDSU, Downs Retirement, Darks over Whites

TRANSFER
Skye Smith of Eastern Wyoming College (a two year school) is headed to North Dakota State. The 5-9 guard is originally from New Orleans.

COACHING NEWS
Western Michigan women's basketball coach Tasha McDowell has finished naming her staff adding Yvette Harris, Glenn Box and Phil Sayers to the staff.
Harris had been a coach at Central Connecticut State and prior to that was an assistant at Michigan.
Box was the coach at Rend Lake College (two year school) in Illinois.
Sayers was with the men's side at WMU last year.

DOWNS RETIREMENT
There will be a retirement party for Chaska girls basketball coach Bob Downs at the Chaska Legion from 4 to 8 pm today. From the Chaska Herald.

NOT TRAVELING THIS SUMMER
Jordan Hooper of Alliance, Nebraska is not doing the summer traveling basketball tours this summer. In the recruiting notes at the end of the Omaha World-Herald.

ALL STAR GAME
The Darks beat the Whites (their terms) 70-56 in the Second Annual Warriors Basketball Classic. Kristine Ortmeier, who is headed to Doane, was named MVP with 16 points for the Darks. From the Fremont Tribune.

The Crossroads Conference beat the Goldenrod Conference 60-48. From the York News-Times.
