Poppens Tornado Experience, Green Bay Hires

PARKERSBURG TORNADO
The Ames Tribune has an article on Chelsea Poppens of Aplington-Parkersburg and her story on what happened to her in the Parkersburg Tornado. Poppens also plays with North Tartan Larson in AAU. She is expected to play next weekend at Bloomington Kennedy.

COACHING NEWS
UW Green Bay has hired two coaches for their women's basketball program. Mike Divilbiss will be an assistant Kari Flunker will be the director of basketball operations. Divilbiss was the head Idaho women's coach. Flunker is from Florence, WI and went to college at Cedarville in Ohio. From the Green Bay Press Gazette.

Shannon Baugh has been hired as the new women's basketball coach at Saginaw Valley State. Baugh was an assistant under former Gopher coach Linda Hill-McDonald at Buffalo. From the Saginaw News.

CHANGE OF SCENERY
New Des Moines North coach Kris Byam has his squad in the Des Moines Christian Summer League this year instead of the Grand View League. DMN is looking to snap an 84 game losing streak. From the Sioux City Journal.

BASKETBALL ON TRACK
Maranda Dohrn of Lake City finished second in the Minnesota State A High Jump with a leap of 5-5. Yvonne Freese of Lanesboro (and Southern Minne Magic) finished 5th in the discus. From the Rochester Post Bulletin.
Brittany Lewis of Red Wing finished 13th in the Long Jump. From the Red Wing Republican Eagle.

Jennie Noreen of Albany advanced to the finals of the 100 hurdles with a time of 15.49.
