This game took place on Sunday, June 22, 2008
MIDWEST GIRLS CLASSIC
Ames, Iowa
Gold (16u) Quarterinals
TEAM WISCONSIN SELECT SAMUELS 49, WISCONSIN HOOPS SELECT 21

Team WI Select Samuels outscored WHS 16-2 to end the first half and with that burst of offense put the game in the bag. There was really no mystery after that. TWSS was back together after last weekend’s Summer Jam. Sam Hoyt and Heather Kessler were away at camps last week and their absence messed with the timing and chemistry. The only thing being messed with today was WHS.

The game started off competitive with TWSS holding a 9-7 lead with a little more than 9:30 to go in the first half. Then the dam burst and TWSS went on a 16-2 rampage. WHS had a 15 possession drought before scoring again. It wasn’t that WHS wasn’t getting any shots. They only had three turnovers in that marathon drought. They were only getting one shot, and most of the time it wasn't quality. It was 25-9 at the half.

The droughts weren’t nearly as severe in the second half for WHS. It was 39-20 when TWSS went on a flurry of five straight scores in a 10-1 run with 3:50 left.

When I was covering this contest Steven Froemming was covering the Fury 16 vs Team WI Select Doucette match up won by the Fury 59-54. Steven also covered another game with All Iowa Attack beating the MN Stars 51-31.
