Battle of the Hardwood
Woodbury High School
17u Pool Play
NC HEAT 99, MINNESOTA LAKERS 43
Coach Teas & I arrived at Woodbury expecting to see NC Heat and North Tartan Larson, but that time was switched. Instead the Minnesota Lakers took on the Heat. NC Heat set a record for older teams with their pp100. The highest pp100 record holder is Mpls Lady Cats last year when they hit for 145.1 pp100 in a 14u game. NC Heat sets the record for pp100 in the older division (17u). The previous high was 133.85 by Daubert Pinnacle Nebraska in 2006. The record for a high school game is still 129.7 by Adrian in 2006. Ironically Sam Lynn made the game tying basket in that game for Adrian with a mid court shot at the buzzer. In this game the record was set on Lynn's team.
NCH was quick out of the gate and didn't let up. Tayler Hill cashed in a three right on the first possession. NCH scored on six of the first seven possessions to take a commanding 13-4 lead. By their 17th possession NCH led 29-11, a pp100 of 170.6. ML had a drought of 12 that didn't help their cause in the first half. NCH led at the break 57-19. Hill had 17 at half.
There was no suspense in the second half other than if NCH would reach 100. They fell one point short.
Nine of the NCH players were above 100 pp100 and two were at or above 200. The Lakers had one player make the 100 mark.
